Shard - Wished and then Kissed EP
Local hero's testament to hard work and dedication.
Shard have been slugging and glamming it out on the local circuit for a while
and have become fast movers with a professional and unique sound. Check out
their first big independent release.
Opening song 'The modern way to madness' showcases what Shard are all about,
Pop sleaze glam and awkward schizophrenic moments unfolding all at once in equal
measures. Stop and start guitar work punctuated by drum bursts. A somewhat
stripped down track for Shard but still one that shows thought and depth.
The second track opens with robotic synths and drums and a slow picked phased
guitar providing the ambience and it's this subtle ambience that promises Shard
never get boring. The dual vocals are well worked out and are a stunning touch
that gently plucks its way into your ears cooing softly massaging the inside of
your ears becoming liquid. A short sweet song that shows the innocent side of
Shard.
The third track 'Daytime in Leatherlime' sounds absolutely amazing at the
start with a really fat hard vibe behind it which sounds absolutely dazzling The
juxtaposition of sweet and fat sounds fighting in the mix of this song really
make it stand out. It's quite a trip and has an energy present in form
throughout. The best track on the CD.
The other three songs mix more sleaze and plucked strings and disjointed clean
sounds to dirty vocals. Mixing songs and sections to the point that they become
timeless and fabulously disjointed. Synths and guitars battle it out but still
allow each song to be different each song has a moment you can dance to and lose
yourself in and has passion and flirts with you.
Defiantly not for everyone but a lesson to everyone in a band to do something
original and create music that they can really call their own.
