Braid

Frame and Canvas
Biography:
Braid formed in Champaign, IL in 1993. Formed by guitarist and
singer Bob Nanna and drummer Roy Ewing, Braid played their first
show December 10, 1993 in Danville, IL. After many line up
changes and Bob Nanna's other band, Friction, breaking up, Braid
finally became a full time band and started recording. With a
lineup consisting of Nanna, Ewing, guitarist/singer Chris
Broach, and bassist Todd Bell, the group recorded their debut
album "Frankie Welfare Boy Age Five" in 1995 for Divot Records.
The album consisted of 26 songs, a song for each letter of the
alphabet. "The Age of Octeen" was released the next year for
Polyvinyl. Their landmark album, "Frame and Canvas" was released
in 1998 after drummer Roy Ewing left and was replaced by Damon
Atkinson. Braid broke up in 1999. Nanna, Bell, and Atkinson
formed Hey Mercedes and Broach formed The Firebird Band. Braid
reunited for a 2004 tour. |
